Young Scholars in Women’s Studies
“Gender
Justice and Democracy in Asia”
In cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations (ASEAN) Senior Officials Meeting on Education (SOM-ED) and the ASEAN
University Network (AUN), the Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS)
invites participants to Phase 3 of the Korea-ASEAN Cooperation Project (KACP) on
Education and Exchange Program for Young Scholars in Women’s Studies,
popularized briefly as theKACP. Supported by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund,
the KACP is an academic forum of expert professors, young scholars, and
practitioners from Korea and ten ASEAN Member States, who are engaged in
education, fellowship opportunities, networking, and collaboration initiatives
that are geared towards research, publication, integration, and
institutionalization of Women’s Studies in Korea and the ASEAN
region.
AAWS designs Phase 3 of the KACP to promote and practice
collaborative research and publication on issues concerning gender and women’s
studies. To reinforce Phases 1 and 2 conducted in 2012 through 2015, Phase 3 is
also aimed at empowering young women scholars and disseminating Women’s Studies
to institutions where Women’s Studies is not well established as yet;
understanding the lives and experiences of women, sharing information, and
strengthening the network of women scholars; developing and exercising academic

contribute to understanding and realizing “Gender Justice and Democracy in
Asia.”
